tarwater’s new album spider smile, apparently a concept album based on the theme of america, will be released in europe on morr music on 20 april 2007.  a us release will follow in may.  here’s the tracklisting:

upcoming landau

landau, the group that released the excellent album thepicompromise in 2004 on merck records, will be releasing their second album janus plays telephone, this time under the name the landau orchestra, on milan records.

Formed in 1998, Landau was originally a union of four songwriters/producers geared towards writing melodic electronic music. Their earliest influences included the 1990’s Warp Scene, trip hop, drum & bass and western art music. The group’s underlying goal and aesthetic has always been the seamless blend of acoustic and electronic sound. Their sound has been compared to Plaid, Autechre, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Matmos, amongst others.

candy mind netlabel shutting down?

candy mind, probably the funniest netlabel i’ve seen, just sent out an email saying they are closing down.  the good news is they are putting out one last release, called a beginning of an end, which is a various artists compilation featuring some of the bigger artists from the bleepy 8-bit netlabel scene.

Two rich years of candy mining have finally come to an end.  Today we are releasing our last Candy Mind release. Ever.

Have your handkerchief ready as you listen to Goto80, Liquid Stranger, Dorothy´s Magic Bag, Psilodump, Paza, and Lithis, as they say goodbye to the candy coffin, slowly approaching the crematory furnace.

i can’t say i’ve heard everything this label has put out, but i can urge everyone to download two of their best releases: binärpilot’s you can’t stop da funk and dorothy’s magic bag’s what’s inside the magic bag.

two new autechre live recordings from watmm

two recent live recordings of autechre are now available at we are the music makers.  the first is a good-quality soundboard recording from bloc weekend on 25 march.  the second isn’t as good, sound-quality-wise, but it’s also from a recent performance on 30 march at the reset festival in belgium.  you can download both recordings (plus a lot more older ones) here.  the new ones are near the bottom (just look at the dates).

according to a recent mailing, richard chartier and asmus tietchens will be putting out a collaborative album in april or may of this year on die stadt, and a limited number will include a bonus cd.  unfortunately i haven’t been able to find any other information on this right now.
